Tim Wilson's 20 Hardtop!
Here's a boat that has been spotted off the side of the road in eastern WA by a few Skagiteers. This is quite often a great way to find a Skagit. If you're looking for one put an ad in our Classifieds to let all the eyes in the group help find you one.
In late 2008 Tim Wilson ended up scoring her.
This is a 1957 model year Skagit 20 Express hardtop, and has been converted for sterndrive. The four cylinder stern drives make a nice package as you can still beach them with the drive tilted up and you get the benefits of a four stroke: no blue smoke, excellent part throttle and wot fuel economy, no mixing oil in the fuel, and they're relatively quiet! Plus you can run a heater off the cooling system.

Tim says:
"Hey Bill,
These are the only pic's I have tonight..will these do?
saved her from a cow field, almost had to take the combine in order to get her, price of scrap was to far down..."
Bravo to Tim for saving her.!
We know that if he rides on Greg Silcox's SKagit with sterndrive he'll be finding a donor boat for a repower pronto, as her drive package has been removed.
These old Skagits have Armageddon-class fiberglass stringers in them, curved transoms, and the high coamings around the helm make you feel like you're piloting a really substantial little ship!

Here she is as spotted on an eastern WA ranch:
Rescued, safe n sound under Tim's covered moorage!

Classic lines! This boat is same color as my Tyee originally was, and My Bet is she'll buff out Very Respectably. Skagit boats seem to have done their gelcoat better than most...

Helm under the hardtop, note those high sides surrounding the pilot, great protection from spray and keeps kids inside where they belong!

Full shot from transom, plenty of room for adventures.
